Whether youre a cupcake decorating pro or novice, these Halloween cupcakes are a blast to createthough they require some patience. You can use decorating bags and a small round piping tip if you have them. If you dont, this design can also be made with just frosting, an offset spatula, and decorating gel for the spider legs.

To make thebuttercream, beat together the butter and icing sugar until light and fluffy.Spoon this onto the top of the cooled cakes, using the back of the spoon to smooth the buttercream into a dome.

These are super simple to make. The hardest part it guessing how long to cut the legs. If you make them too long, then you'll run out of liquorice; if not, well then your spider will look silly. I really don't think the kids would mind though. Mine were delighted to see the candy adorned cupcakes. I mean cake, frosting AND candy!?!

In another bowl, sift together theflour and baking powder, then stirin the sugar. Add the cocoa mixtureand the spread. Using an electrichand-held whisk, beat for 1 minute,then gradually add the egg mixture,whisking well after each addition.

What is needed to make these easy spider cupcakes

Before starting this dessert craft with your family, you need to make the cupcakes. I usually make these ahead of time, but if you have older kids they would love to participate in this part too.

For my recipe, I preheated the oven to 350 degrees F. Then I mixed the cake mix based on the package instructions in a large bowl. Next I filled muffin cups lined with a liner with approximately ½ cup of the batter and baked until a tooth pick inserted into the middle came out clean.

First place the Oreos in a freezer plastic bag and then beat them with a kitchen tenderizer or a rolling pin until you have crushed Oreos. Just crush them until they are the size that you prefer. Mine were large chunks and were not finely crushed. I recommend using a freezer bag as it holds up better during the crushing of the Oreos.

1. Preheat the oven to 180C, gas mark 4, and line a 12-hole muffin tin with cupcake cases. Lightly beat 1 egg in a large jug or bowl. In a small bowl, use a balloon whisk to whip the soft cheese until smooth, then stir in ½ the beaten egg and 40g sugar; atidėti.

4. Roll 12 balls of black icing, then flatten to roughly the size of a pound coin. Roll out the remaining icing to 0.3cm thickness; use a sharp knife to cut into thin strips, about 1.5cm long. Arrange 8 strips across each cupcake for legs, and add the circle as the body in the middle. Use a little water to attach 2 edible eyes to each spider.
